چکیده

Conventional gastrointestinal motility tests cause pain; therefore, newer noninvasive methods are desired. Noninvasive methods facilitate the measurement of motility close to the normal physiological state, provide new valid findings, and may contribute to the development of associated fields. Electrogastrography (EGG) measures the electrical activity of the stomach through electrodes placed over the abdomen, which is primarily rhythmical. Compared with other gastrointestinal motility measurement methods such as the gastric emptying and internal pressure measurement, EGG is noninvasive and allows measurement under minimum restriction and therefore, allows prolonged measurement. In addition, since EGG measures gastrointestinal electric activity, which cannot be quantified using other methods, it can be used for the evaluation of the state of the body and pathological condition, and may provide new findings such as those useful for the prevention of gastrointestinal dysfunction associated with various disorders. EGG is also useful for preventing disorders associated with abnormal gastrointestinal activity such as functional dyspepsia, which has become frequent in recent years, and constipation, which is an extremely frequent complaint in the elderly. Thus, EGG is of marked importance in public health. However, the range of EGG application is still limited. Therefore, we outlined the measurement/analysis methods, listed advantages and disadvantages of EGG and electrogastroenterography (EGEG), described their clinical importance, and commented on studies at the forefront on form and its nonlinear analysis by EGG. We also evaluated the prospects of EGG.

In vivo and in vitro effects of Salsola collina on gastrointestinal motility in rats

Objective(s): Salsola collina is widely distributed along the Bohai coast and consumed as an edible plant by native residents. We have found surprisingly that S. collina extracts promoted gastrointestinal motility in mice previously. In the present study, effects of S. collina on gastrointestinal motility in rats and its underlying mechanism were explored.<st...

Analytical Solution for the Forced Vibrations of a Nano-Resonator with Cubic Nonlinearities Using Homotopy Analysis Method

Many of nonlinear systems in the field of engineering such as nano-resonator and atomic force microscope can be modeled based on Duffing equation. Analytical frequency response of this system helps us analyze different interesting nonlinear behaviors appearing in its response due to its rich dynamics. In this paper, the general form of Duffing equation with cubic nonlinearity as well as par...

Nonlinear Multi attribute Satisfaction Analysis (N-MUSA): Preference disaggregation approach to satisfaction

Nonlinear MUSA is an extension of MUSA, which employs a derived approach to analyze customer satisfaction and its determinants. It is a preference disaggregation approach, widely welcomed by scholars since 2002, following the principles of ordinal regression analysis. N-MUSA as a goal programing model, evaluates the level of satisfaction among some groups including customers, employees, etcete...

بررسی ارتباط میزان دیامتر و وجود رفلاکس با آزمایش اسپرم در بیماران مبتلا به واریکوسل در بیمارستان شهید هاشمی‌نژاد در سال 1382

Background & Aim: Varicocele is the dilation of the pampiniform venous plexus of testis more than 2 mm and is one of the most common causes of sperm abnormalities in infertile men. The main diagnostic test for varicocele is ultrasonography that evaluates the vein diameter in B mode exam and venous reflux in color Doppler exam, but there is no single agreement on the importance of these two ...
